American and Lesser Goldfinches hang out around our feeders all winter in their relatively drab winter plumage. As spring progresses the wonderful song of the American Goldfinch brightens our mornings and the males begin to show up in their brilliant spring plumage and seem to enjoy catching rays of sunlight in the trees to show off their bright new colors! Of course the Lessers do the same thing. This combination of song and color means that summer, and baby birds, can’t be too far off! Click on image to enlarge.
